So. This was the epitome of experimentation, for me. I took a bunch of techniques that I've used in the past, and mushed them into one picture. This includes smudging (and actually leaving it smudged), outlining the veins, and doing that backlit/outline thing that I did so awfully before. x] Anywhoo, I'm very happy with this. (: Except, of course, this would happen to me...
Right about when I'm halfway done, I discover that *V-alkyrie has done a commission for *Hlsadlar. Of a different character, but with the same horse...
fail.
Being me, I was too lazy to start over (especially since this was the third time I restarted it) so I hope they don't look to similar, and I hope *Hlsadlar doesn't mind too much. .__.
Faune... The character is Faune, a totally awesome and gorgeous god of wind, or something. Either way, he's pretty damn cool. So, here, I wanted to show his power of the wind, no matter where he is. So even though he's in some cave thingy, the wind still blows when he wants it to.
He has an owl buddy, and I almost added him in, but... it looked funky when I tried. So, no owl. :/
This is an amazing piece of work. I was just wondering, do you know of a tutorial on how to change backgrounds dark like that and make the water colourful? I have no idea, no matter how many ways I try to make it like that.
Well, there's a variety of techniques, and I rarely do the same thing every time. Its a combination of burning, dodging, painting, overlays, masks, color balance, brightness contrast, etc. I just fiddle around with it until it looks decent.
